Benson Boone American Heart Tour
I collaborated with Luke Halls Studio on Benson Boone’s American Heart tour, contributing to two key moments: the song Take Me Home and the interstitial Made of Stars preceding the song In the Stars.
ROLE: 3D MOTION-DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT | OTHER MOTION DESIGNERS: BARBORA GILIUTE, DUNCAN LAWFORD, IAN MACINTOSH, JASON MOSS, MICHAEL LUDLAM | CREATIVE DIRECTION: CHARLI DAVIS | PRODUCER: RAE SHEPARD
For the song Take Me Home, I designed a lonely drive-in scene where the live feed was housed inside the cinema screen. Creative director Charli Davis envisioned a setting that felt slightly “off,” like an old film set with carefully curated mise-en-scène, hand-painted backdrops, and a strange coexistence of warmth and alienation. Although the tour ultimately shifted its focus toward live-feed integration and this concept was not carried forward to the live-show, I love what we produced here.
Curtains introduced and closed the song, creating a theatrical transition within the show. I experimented with multiple variations, including utilising the split downstage to part like curtains and reveal a glowing upstage screen illuminating Benson’s silhouette.
I also helped develop the interstitial Made of Stars sequence, where Benson transforms into stardust before ascending on a floating chandelier. My role included storyboarding key beats and testing particle techniques that could be applied to the artist, helping establish the magical, dreamlike tone of the moment.
