Bob Marley Hope Road

For the new Bob Marley Hope Road show in Las Vegas, Luke Halls Studio produced immersive content across a series of rooms celebrating the life and work of the legendary artist. For one of these rooms a performer interacts with a gigantic wall of projected animation in which he somersaults through windows, sails across seas and rides a cloud up to space. I composited and animated this scene along with the team including Salvador Maldonado who animated the swimming lion.

ROLE: COMPOSITING, ANIMATION | LION ANIMATOR: SALVADOR MALDONADO | TECH DIRECTION: ZAKK HEIN | CHOREOGRAPHY: JOHN BRADY ARTHUR CADRE | CREATIVE DIRECTORS: LUKE HALLS, MARK TODD, CHARLI DAVIS | PRODUCER: RAE SHEPARD

The challenge here was to produce 3 minutes of compelling storytelling that worked across both animation and choreography in tandem. So there was much back and forth between the animation teams in London and the choreography team in Vegas making sure we nailed an animation that was both visually spectacular and harmoniously in sync with the performer.

.

The Natural Mystic room is part of the wider show Bob Marley Hope Road in Las Vegas showing now and for the forseeable future.

Rehearsal recordings and platform guides helped us nail the sequence of events throughout the animation. The main room was occupied by the left two-thirds of animation while the right third led audiences around the corner to the next performance as things came to a close.
