McLaren W1 Launch

McLaren unveiled their latest flagship supercar, the W1, at the Tate Modern with a display of design and engineering across 3 huge screens. Collaborating with the team at Luke Halls Studio, I produced animation for two chapters including aerodynamics (first two images below). I also developed the motion template which gave the design team a simple toolkit to create visually stunning sequences that could also tell a compelling story.

CLIENT: MCLAREN | ROLE: MOTION-DESIGN, MOTION TEMPLATE, DEVELOPMENT | MOTION DESIGNERS: JASON MOSS, BARBORA GILUTE, LUKE GEORGIOU, DUNCAN LAWFORD, GARETH WILLIAMS | PRODUCER: BRIDGET VUILLERMIN | PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: PEARL GERALD | CREATIVE DIRECTION: LUKE HALLS AND MARK TODD | SCRIPT WRITER: LEAH HULGIN

The event consisted of a huge wrap-around back-wall screen and two triangular LED screens, one above and one under the car itself.

Development

Using a 3D replica of the venue in Unreal Engine, we could interactively demo our designs from all angles.
